Accessory returns often come down to one thing: the wrong connector. This chart maps the connectors used across Starlink dishes, power adapters and outdoor wireless, so you can match cables before you ship.
1. Connector reference
| Connector | Used for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| RJ45 (CAT5e/6) | Data + PoE to dish / AP | PoE 24V or 48V; use outdoor-rated cable |
| DC5521 (5.5×2.1 mm) | 12V/24V gear, DeWalt adapter output | Centre-positive; check polarity |
| Anderson (SB50) | High-current battery feeds | Used on 24V banks and bridge PoE injectors |
| Proprietary dish plug | Starlink dish to its PSU | Do not adapt; use the matched PSU |
2. PLZTECH product × connector
| Product | Connector in | Connector out |
|---|---|---|
| 144W 48V Adapter (PL72-V3V4) | IEC C8 AC | RJ45 PoE |
| 12V→30V Step-Up | Cigarette lighter / DC5521 | RJ45 PoE |
| DeWalt 20V Adapter | DeWalt 20V slide | DC5521 |
| 25 km Bridge | PoE (RJ45) | PoE (RJ45) |
3. Cross-compatibility warnings
- DC5521 vs 5525: a 5.5×2.5 mm plug looks identical but won't seat on a 2.1 mm jack — verify the inner pin size.
- Polarity: most 12V gear is centre-positive; reversing it can damage the device.
- PoE voltage: 24V and 48V injectors are not interchangeable; match the AP's rating.
When in doubt, ship the matched cable with the product. A 2-cent connector mismatch is the most expensive return you will ever process.
